1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Caliper ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.
These Terms apply to all users of the app. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and handle your information. By using the app, you also acknowledge that you have read the Privacy Policy.
2. Eligibility
Caliper is intended for adults 18 years of age and older. The app's scan flow requires you to provide your age, and you must be at least 18 to complete a scan. There is no separate age verification at account creation, but by creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information.
3. General Wellness Only / No Medical Advice
Caliper is a general wellness app. It is for informational and general wellness purposes only.
Caliper is not medical advice, a medical device, or a diagnostic or treatment tool. Nothing in the app should be interpreted as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Do not use Caliper as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Do not use Caliper to make decisions about medical treatment, medication, eating disorder treatment or recovery, emergency care, or any health decision that carries medical risk.
- Consult a qualified healthcare professional before making any health-related decisions.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately. Do not rely on Caliper for any emergency or urgent health situation.
4. Estimates and Limitations
Caliper provides estimates of body composition, body measurements, and related wellness metrics. These estimates are generated using your scan photos, demographic inputs (such as age, sex, height, weight, and race/ethnicity), and our machine learning models.
You should understand that:
- Results are estimates or image-derived measurements, not clinical measurements. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent.
- Many factors affect accuracy, including lighting, pose, clothing, camera angle, distance, device capabilities, and the demographic information you provide.
- Model limitations exist. Our models are trained on limited datasets and may not perform equally across all body types, demographics, or conditions.
- Trends over time may be more useful than any single estimate. Individual scan results may vary.
- We do not guarantee accuracy, specific results, weight loss, fat loss, muscle gain, or any particular health or fitness outcome.
- Estimates may differ from clinical measurements such as DEXA scans, hydrostatic weighing, or other medical body composition methods.
5. Accounts and Security
To use Caliper, you must create an account. You can sign in using email (one-time passcode), Apple Sign In, or phone number verification. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials secure.
- All activity that occurs under your account.
- Providing accurate information when creating your account and during scans.
- Notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
You must not share your login credentials, access another person's account, or attempt to bypass the app's authentication or security measures.
We use device-level session protections, including a device fingerprint tied to your session, to help secure your account.
6. User Responsibilities
When using Caliper, you agree to:
- Provide accurate demographic and profile information during scans.
- Use the app in a safe, lawful manner.
- Not upload or submit content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, threatening, or non-consensual.
- Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive source code from the app or its backend services.
- Not scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the app or its data.
- Not attempt to overload, disrupt, or interfere with the app's servers, services, or infrastructure.
- Not circumvent or attempt to bypass any security, access control, rate limiting, or usage restriction in the app.
When you export, save, or share content from Caliper, including report images, progress images, CSV exports, screenshots, or other app-generated outputs, you are responsible for choosing what to share and with whom. Shared outputs may contain personal wellness information, body composition estimates, measurements, weight, dates, progress changes, or scan-derived silhouettes, outlines, or contours depending on the options you select. Once you share content with another person, app, service, or destination, Caliper does not control how that recipient or service uses, stores, redistributes, or deletes it.
7. Scan Capture and Content
When you use the scan feature, you take front and side photos through a guided camera flow. These photos, along with your demographic inputs, are sent to our servers for processing.
- You should only scan yourself. Do not scan another person unless you have their explicit, informed consent and lawful authority to do so.
- Photos are processed by our analysis pipeline. In the primary scan flow, raw photos are processed in memory and are not stored long-term. Silhouettes, measurements, composition estimates, and derived artifacts are stored in your account. For more detail on how scan data is handled, see our Privacy Policy.
- You are responsible for any content you submit through the app.
8. Subscriptions, Purchases, and Billing
Caliper offers both free and premium features.
Free features may include limited scan access and basic body composition estimates, as described in the app or on the App Store.
Premium features include scan-by-scan body shape comparison, progress insights and guidance, full body fat and lean mass history, goal projections, and data export. Premium access requires an active subscription.
Payments and Subscriptions
- All payments for Caliper subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Caliper does not receive or store your payment card details.
- Subscription pricing, terms, and available plans are displayed in the app and on the App Store at the time of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the end of the current billing period.
- To manage or cancel your subscription, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, or visit the App Store.
- Refund requests are handled by Apple according to Apple's refund policies. Caliper does not process refunds directly.
- We use RevenueCat to manage your subscription entitlement status. RevenueCat receives your app user identifier and subscription event information from Apple.
Feature and Pricing Changes
We may modify, add, or remove features or change pricing for future subscription periods. Changes to pricing will not affect your current billing period. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where required by applicable law or platform rules.
9. Free Trials and Promotional Access
We may offer free trials, promotional pricing, or limited-time access to premium features. The specific terms of any trial or promotion will be presented to you before you enroll. If a free trial converts to a paid subscription, you will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends. Cancellation is managed through your Apple subscription settings.
10. Data Export and Account Deletion
Data Export
Premium subscribers can export their scan history as a CSV file from the Profile tab in the app. Exports are limited to three requests per 24-hour period.
Account Deletion
You can delete your account from within the app by going to the Profile tab and selecting "Delete Account." You will be asked to confirm twice before deletion proceeds.
When you delete your account, your personal identity information (such as your name, email address, phone number, and Apple identity) is removed from our systems. Your local session and credentials are cleared from your device. Scan history, body composition results, silhouette images, derived artifacts, measurements, weight logs, goals, progress data, and related scan/body data may be retained in de-identified form as described in the deletion confirmation and our Privacy Policy. We may use retained de-identified data for product improvement, model evaluation, safety, abuse prevention, research and development, and improving Caliper's models and services.
Privacy Requests
For requests to access, correct, or delete your data beyond what is available in the app, contact us at privacy@caliperscan.com.
11. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the information and content you provide to Caliper (such as your demographic inputs and feedback). By using the app, you grant us the rights needed to use, process, store, display, and create derived outputs from the information you submit solely to operate, maintain, secure, and improve Caliper, as described in these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
12. Feedback
If you submit feedback, suggestions, ideas, or other input to us (whether through the in-app feedback feature, email, or otherwise), you agree that we may use that feedback for any purpose without obligation to compensate you or keep it confidential. You should not submit feedback that you consider proprietary or confidential.

- Continued access is not in the interest of other users or the service.
You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time through the Profile tab.
Upon termination, your right to use the app ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law) will continue to apply.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Effective Date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we may also notify you through the app.
